its bad......if it wasn't for the money I would leave......but that being said, I thought when I returned from holiday, Beijing would have less folk due to the smog and increased prices ...... but to my surprise, it seems to be more people moving here....the Subways are filled to capacity coming into the city in the afternoons.... which means a lot of folk are working outside the city but coming home at night or there is a lot of night work in the city proper .... |

It's just another typical BBC "let's find a reason for bashing China" story. They are rapidly becoming as bad as CNN. |

Such sentiments make sense only to non native speakers or those too physically unattractive to get a job elsewhere. |

And as bad as the pollution on mainland China. How bad do you think they all can get? |

A most unintelligent observation. So, why pray tell, on hell's half acre of the PRC does this in any conceivable way, make sense to you . If physical attractiveness is a requirement for a Job in Beijing, then what are all those funny looking folk over at San le tun doing in China....and non natives don't oft teach here but we do have a large population "slinging" on the street in front of the local cop shop
As on to other nonsense.... read yesterday that there is a company tht is thinkn of ways to convert smog to diamonds. They claim that by collecting smog...apparently it can be done in a plastic bag....and can u imagine the reaction... little flakes of carbon and seeing what your huffing in Beijing....they can be converted into diamonds.... |

If the dirt diamonds are true, this may well turn into something like The California Gold Rush in, I think, 1840s. |

One thing that weirds me out is the strong belief, even among otherwise educated people, that the air outside is worse than the air inside. This isn't true unless you have an air purifier and keep your apartment sealed up. I mean, where do you think the air inside came from? I suppose if you aired the place out on clear days and closed everything on smoggy days it might make something of a difference, but even then, I don't think it's night and day in the way that some people act like it is.
But people still act like I'm crazy when I wear a mask indoors. |
