Does Bahrain have the headache inducing document requirements that Kuwait has? I hear that with Kuwait even after you have all your documents authenticated and stamped at the Kuwait embassy in your home country, when you actually show up in Kuwait another long process begins with the passing of your documents through the Ministry of Education and various other bureaucracies. I heard stories that people show up in Kuwait and can't open bank accounts for months because this process takes so long.

Is Bahrain similar? What do you need to have and do in order to teach in Bahrain?

Kuwait is definitely one of the worst bureaucracies in the Gulf. Slow, inefficient, expensive and abusive... but they treat even their fellow locals with the same rudeness and disdain. I had no trouble opening the bank account, but it took KU over 5 months to pay me anything. (but I was expecting it and was prepared)

The normal quick conversion of your home driving license to a local license - which takes a day or two max in the UAE or Oman took another 5 months in Kuwait. Everything seems to require 3 signatures from people in 3 locations on the farthest edges of the city from each other... and even when they are sitting at their desk (very rare), they will tell you to come back another day because they don't want to open their desk drawer to get out the stamp.

Bahrain couldn't possibly be as bad because it is smaller. But there are also not that many jobs there.
