I've got an interview about an IFY ("International Foundation Year") position. Is anyone familiar with these programs? Basically, it sounds like you are teaching high-school curriculum to students whose high school education (and/or English training) might not be high enough to gain entry to a Western university, however they could gain entry after a year or two of study in a college preparatory school.
In any case, this just made me wonder, particularly about the students. Are they really good students, except they just didn't have the opportunity to learn a lot of English while growing up? That seems most likely, but maybe I'm missing something here.
Long story short: IFY, who and what is it, and would it be cool to teach there? |

Do a search on the forums for "foundation year", you'll get an earful.
These programs can vary greatly in quality depending on who is running them. Some have very stringent entry requirements; others, less so. |

I tried this search, but honestly didn't come up with much.

We haven't discussed particulars, but it's a western-range salary. |
