I'm looking for a job in Istanbul, but I only want to teach adults or late teens. I worked there briefly last year and loved it but had to leave for personal reasons. I would love to go back in September. I'd like to find a decent place I could stay with for (at least) a year, so am not sure about English Time or Wall Street -based on what I've read. I'm also looking for a school that will hire from abroad so that makes things more difficult! Ideally, a uni would be my goal but I doubt I could get in without already being based there or extremely well qualified. I have a CELTA, MA in English and am currently studying for DELTA module 1. I have 6 years experience.

With your qualifications you should have your pick of places that are well above the Wall Street level. It would really likely be better if you went in person and applied to places. It's a good bet that if you hit a couple of places a day you'd have a good offer within two weeks. You could also try looking up a list of new, private Istanbul universities (there are tons) and send your resume and a cover letter out to them. You might try with the more well-established unis as well. With an MA and 6 years you might get an offer.

Unfortunately, my MA is in English Lit, not tesol. Which doesn't get me any further than anyone else with a CELTA.

Sorry to hijack. Not as qualified as the OP, but wanted input. My BA is in secondary education, I'm a licensed teacher in the US and I have 7 years experience. Never taught esl, and don't want to teach at intl schools. Only esl. What are my prospects? Can I just come and apply for jobs on the ground? Thx.
