Hi,
I wondered if anyone has any recent info. about LSE in Ukraine? I've just been offered a post at their Donetsk branch. Probably I'll take it as the pay and conditions are relatively good, but just wondered if anyone could improve on the one indirect (but positive) reference to this school in the JIJ.
I guess the city itself is not exactly Paris, but I think I can live with that |

I know that the school in Stavropol had some bad write ups, but the place itself is not too bad, the only drawback being that it is near Chechnya and Ingushetia in relative terms, so maybe that's why you are leaving??
But Donetsk is literally the pits-a coalmining area where people die every year due to the poor maintenance in the mines, working for subsistence wages etc!Ecologically, such places are the ones I would try to avoid on health grounds etc but I honestly know nothing about the school, although for Ukrainians, 500$ per month is more than many earn in several years!!
Is there no way you could check it out first-it's not impossibly far from Stavropol!
Let me know and good luck!

Actually, if you check the most recent write-up on Stavropol (me) you'll see that it isn't negative at all. Be sure to note that I wrote about 'EF' - English First; the negative posts were about 'English OK'.
There's nothing wrong with Stavropol as a town, apart from being slightly boring. My reasons for leaving, apart from pure wanderlust, were mainly to do with wanting to get a variety of experience and have contact with more native English speakers + various things really.
As for Donetsk, as it happens, I've decided against it, but not for the reasons you mention. I'm heading across Siberia to China.
Actually the pay is really good for the region(let's try doubling the figure you mentioned and adding accommodation .. no guarantee of course..), and I can suggest that if someone wants to move in on it, they can contact me for details. I think they had interviews with other people though, so it might get nabbed straight away.
'Twas useful information though, thank you. |
