They seem to be advertising quite often with quite good packages. |

I've been wondering about this place too. They've been advertising frequently for some time now so presumably they've hired and people have gotten to know them as an employer.

This place is going through financial problems-will be be paid if you go there?
The Libyan 'sleeping partner' woke up and parted company with the guy who set up the firm:- apparently most of the money had already gone on vaccination 'offshore'.
Seems like a demanding post-long hours expected from a micro manager--if you are a yes sir kinda guy....
UPDATE:-since writing this a person working at APT sent a note to say that the place is ok.... |

Hi
Anything new on this APT outfit since 2008 ?
I have applied but am now wondering whether their offer "up to" £2300 a month (x12), no tax is reasonable or not. They have replied offering me personally 2.2K because I have never taught FCE Prep; although KET and PET I have done, for which they are also asking for experience). Fair enough, I guess
Also, would their 6 week and 3 week rotation be reasonable. I thought most oil / gas gigs were 4 and 4 ? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Someone mentioned that standards of food and accommodation can vary somewhat on these sorts of jobs. Anyone with experience out there; in particular on the ground in Libya ?
Also, how's the security situation ? Is it much as the media claims or is it not quite so bad ?
Advice or info welcome.
Cheers |

You will be based in Wafa or Mellitah. A Brit and NZ woman were shot dead on the beach in Mellitah a couple of months ago.
APT are a notorious employer.
Libya isn't safe and APT are a dodgy outfit. They were fine when the Brit owned them. |

APT (Now Al Madar) )Update:
Based at Mellitah. All pretty good. Chap who practically organizes everything on the academic front appears to know how to run the place.
No security issues so far.
All in all, reasonable experience. Pay on time. Looking forward to end of first rotation in the next few days and then ..... 3 weeks off ... paid.
Nice feeling. |

Mellitah is a good camp, I particularly like the great pool and gym there.
Zeinab must have cleaned up her act then. Is the director the one who got evaced at the start of the war? If so, say hello as he's a top bloke.
Libya isn't safe and don't for one minute get lulled into a false sense of security. |

Say hi from the boys in Brega. You've got a good boss there.
Our camp's a lot older but we have a beautiful, beautiful beach and our house has a great BBQ garden. It's also pretty safe round here as the local tribe has serious muscle.
We'll probably meet at Trip Int one of these days while wandering around looking at boxes with scorpions in them while trying to waste the few hours' waiting time. |

Hello Everyone,
My current job in Libya is making me leave for security reasons, even though I'm quite safe.
Know of anyone else who wants to hire Americans?
Thanks |

Hi Everyone,
I'm still in Libya and want to move to a (hopefully lucrative) job. The oil rigs seem like a very sweat deal.
I only have two and a half years of experience; but, I can get good recommendation letters.
Any suggestions? Or, am I out of my league to get these great jobs?
Thanks |

Sweat is not sweet - quite salty in fact. |
