I've heard about a new TEFL course in Barcelona, the Art of Tefl. Does anyone have personal experience, who could comment? They have a good website and great location near the Ramblas.

Never believe anyone who says "Our embedded and well established network in Barcelona can guarantee work after qualification" (I quote from their website).

There can be no possible "guarantee" of work afterwards. Or if there is, what are the terms of that "guarantee"?

What's wrong with this picture:

"We guarantee we will get you a job even though we have never met you, have no idea what you are like, know nothing about your skills/education and haven't got a clue about your interpersonal skills."

Add to that TEFL International certification and IATQUO. Both have no public domain recognition.

Finally, they cannot be new because one of their testimonials has 2006 in it.

"Geoff was one of the trainers on my TEFL course in 2006."

This looks like a re-branded course. Why did they need to re-brand it?

"We are externally moderated and accredited by IATQuO which meets the standards of the British Council."

This is not true. The BC only accepts examination boards and universities as valid external moderating organisations. IATQuO is not an examination board and is not a university. If you want to check, write the BC.

accreditation (dot) unit (at) britishcouncil (dot) org

Ask if a TEFL International certification and IATQUO certificate meets BC standards.

Choose wisely.
