CUCAS is a super sophisticated fraud that is owned by a former Chinese govt. official who uses a fake edu.cn domain to convince people he is part of the Ministry of Education of China. NOT! They target expat teachers in China for Chinese immersion programs and everyone abroad (mostly high school students) with "Free Scholarships" to study in China. Here are all the details http://chinascampatrol.wordpress.com They trap people with guaranteed enrollments of $2,000 - $5,000 allegedly in top universities, but after you pay, they stick you in a no-name school and tell you that you did not qualify because you do not speak Chinese!!!!! Total scam - watch out folks!

Could anyone verify if these people are legit or not?

I have heard/read so many scam stories and people getting scammed that frankly I am starting to thing the web is crawling with Nigerian princes that all want to share that 20 mil $ fortune they have, they just need your credit card numbers.

I was mainly looking at teaching jobs in China, even talked to some people, but I can't know for sure if I am to trust them or not.

Are they for real? It's hard to trust testimonies on a blog, these days anyone can just make a web page, record a few videos with friends, fake testimonies and so on. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but there are as many "scam alert, these people will rob you of your money" pages or testimonies as there are "come visit China and teach English,we want you here, you will like the pay,the people and the food" pages and testimonies.

I can't really know who to trust, and I am sure as hell not willing to sign a contract only to regret it for months or perhaps years and thinking in the meantime the pleasant things I will do to that person who scammed me if I ever see him or her.

There are more recruiters out there than you can imagine.

The bottom line when it comes to a job in Asia:
If they ask for money, bank information or credit card information then walk away.
If they try to sell you "their" TEFL course before they can help you then walk away.

Recruiters in EFL do NOT charge the applicant anything.

They do however need (copies/scans) of your passport, degree, transcripts and a police check along with your resume.

Yes, often for better jobs in Asia/China/Korea they often include housing, airfare, etc.

Do you have any recruiters you'd recommend?
