Hi there,
Does anyone have any experiences (good/ bad) with the BC in Sofia? Also, it's the hourly 'package' (33 BGN per hour). Is that reasonable to live off, assuming approx 19 hours teaching per week? (However, they only guarantee 12 hours a week, which sets my alarm bells off).
Any other stories/ advice/ warnings about Sofia in general would also be most welcome. I'm all ears. And - before anyone jumps on me - I realise there is info in old threads about this, but the most recent I could find was circa 2009 and I imagine things may have changed since then.
Thanks! |

Much more expensive than before EU accession. "Rich man, poor man" city now. On those wages you will be one of the New Poor. I worked and lived in BG - in the provinces from 1991 to 2008. First two years there I was part of the UK-Bulgaria Cultural Exchange package and had the misfortune to be "directed" by the then Director of the British Council. Get ready for "Upstairs, Downstairs". You will be downstairs with the servants.
You may be unfamiliar with the reference to a 1970s TV series -
