Now that I'm back in the US it's much more clear just how much cheaper it was to live in Poland.

Utilities are 3 to 4 times the cost, transportation has skyrocketed from less than 100zl a month to a thousand despite owning my car clear. Phone service has tripled. Internet and cable is roughly 5 times higher.

You know business must have been good in Poland when you find yourself back in the States still spending all that zloty. Laughing

Seriously, there are deals to be found for phone, cable and internet - I'm paying less here for all of that than I did in Poland.

LOL, seriously, feel free to quote prices where you live. Internet and cable went from 60zl to 306zl compared to my locations in Birmingham, AL and Gdansk.

As for cell phone service, again feel free to quote your amounts. I went from paying less than 30zl a month to 90zl but reluctantly upgraded to 135zl after discovering my first provider doesn't cover my location. Then there's the cost of the phone.

Real prices, real services and goods.

In Poland, my UPC internet service cost about 60 zlotys/month; my prepaid Orange cellphone service ran about 100-150 zlotys/month for a few short, local calls and domestic SMS texting.

Here, my TWC internet is $14.99/month and my T-Mobile pre-paid cellphone service costs $30.00/month "all-in" for 100 minutes nationwide calling PLUS unlimited international SMS texting.

That said, I'll probably be unlocking my phone prior to my return to Poland where I will most likely go back to the Orange plan - unless T-Mobile has some kind of a similar deal in Europe. Very Happy

My contract with Plus in Poland - 64zl a month for 1.5gb of data, 600 minutes/SMS, unlimited calls/SMS to anyone on the Plus network. It's pretty reasonable, and the phone (Sony Xperia SP - midrange smartphone) was 0zl.

Internet is 60zl a month for 60mbps with the local cable company, completely uncapped.
