I'm living in the US and I JUST got my tesol certificate and have a bachelors degree. I want to find a job before I arrive in Costa Rica, which doesn't sound easy from the blogs that I've read.

Does anyone have any recommendations for schools in Manuel Antonio?

Your chances of finding a paying job (not volunteer, or working for room and board) on the beach in CR are very slim. 90% of the population lives in the central valley, therefore 90% of the jobs are in the valley. Im not saying it is impossible, but if that is your aim then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. On the plus side, the valley is a great place to live with a better climate, more stuff to do, and the beach is within striking distance for your well deserved weekends. If you live at the beach then where do you go to get away from things on the weekend? The city?

Thanks for your response! I appreciate it. A lot of the jobs that I see are in heredia, San Jose, or alajuela. I've heard from my friends that San Jose itself isn't that nice, so I'm considering heredia or alajuela too. Any information on those two?

Heredia is nice and there are lots of different neighborhoods (San Pablo, San Rafael, Heredia Centro, Barva, etc.) for you to choose from.

Alajuela is too hot for me, but some people like that. Razz

I lived in Heredia for almost a year! It is a good area and close enough to San Jose if you ever need to go to the capital. (all major buses leave from SJ) It is much safer than San Jose too.
