|
|
Hello Friends,
On 31 August 2014, my visa and contract with the school I work for will expire. I do not intend to renew the contract and am currently looking for work elsewhere. How much time do I have to get out of Russia after the visa expires? I've got a flight compensation that requires me to stay right up until the end of the contract or I won't get it. |

You need to be out of Russia BEFORE the visa expires. As in before Aug 31 changes to Sept 01. Otherwise, expect hefty fines at the airport, and a missed flight.
However, are you certain that your visa does in fact expire on that date? Does it say so on the sticker in your passport? Seems a little neat that both your contract and visa are the same dates, not to say hard for you to get packed up.
If it is only your contract that expires on Aug 31, and you have a later expiry date on your visa, then no problem at all. Just don't believe schools that might tell you you have to leave immediately. Not so.
Good luck! |

No, I'm sure. The contract ends on the 31st and so does the visa. The visa has already been prolonged a few times (I've been here for a while). I've decided to discontinue employment with this school. Now I just want my wages, travel compensation, and my trudovaya knizhka. I've never had trouble getting the travel compensation before, but that was when I was re-signing the contract. |

Curiouser and curiouser. Sounds like a tricky one, with dates etc.
You can't be in Russia the day after your visa expires. So perhaps the best thing is to speak to your employers and find out what their procedure is for making final payments etc. By law, they have to have everything settled on your last day of work. But in your case that could be just hours before you need to fly out of the airport. Tight.
Please let us know what happens.
Best of luck. |
