If you do decide to make the move to Turkey (or any other country) be sure to register with your countries government agency that issues travel alert warnings. This helps protect you by keeping you informed with timely information by e-mail and gives your embassy crucial information on your location in the event you need help in an emergency. Recently some teachers I know used this information to actually attend one of the many the Gezi protests. They saw it as a badge of honor to get gassed; not recommended! As you should know from your research if you are considering Turkey as your home, things are heating up there very quickly opposed to just a couple of years ago. The presidential elections are also being held this year which historically has been marred by very heated protests. Here are some links to check out, both government sites and English language newspapers that you can follow. There are many others so please add them. Of course we all should know that most journalist rags are skewed toward their political affiliation and government agencies tend to reach on the side of caution but this information is still very important for your safety.
