Is it possible to get a teaching job in Mexico with a British English accent? I have experience ,MA and Tefl qualifications and ideally would want to teach adults in university and not a vast number of hours. |

Not only is it possible, it is often considered an advantage, especially by the students. I've never had a problem in 13 years here (although I don't have your qualifications, so have never taught in a university.) |

Absolutely. There are even some places that strictly hire British English teachers. People love that. |

Hola!
Similar situation to the OP, I would be interested in teaching at a university in Mexico. It's great hear that being a Brit wouldn't be a hinderance.
To follow up:
Would you need a decent level of Spanish?
Where would be the best place to look for these university positions?
Thanks in advance! |

No, but it helps. Except if you end up in a school where you must do administrative stuff like attending staff meetings and making reports in Spanish. Then, of course, Spanish will be essential.

SUNEO in Oaxaca, for one. Forum member MotherF can tell you more about that (or do a search in this forum for past threads mentioning “university”). |

Yes we're also happy to have Brits, and have had native speakers from the US, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Uganda.
Send me a pm and I can give you more info. |
