A friend of mine was told my the Sisli Emniyet that his Residence Visa would come in the mail one month later. It's been two months. He visited the Emniyet and they admitted that they have no idea when it will arrive, so he had to wait.

Rather alarming.

Did anyone else have such problems?/

I'm in a similar situation right now in Ankara--I've been waiting for a little over a month now. I asked the guy at the Emniyet when it would come and he kind of shrugged and said "in one or two or three months." Some other teachers I know never received their permits in the mail, but went back to pick it up 90 days later and got them without any further issues. It seems there are some kinks in the new system, go figure.

Re. going back 90 days later, an officer seemed to be saying something of that nature to us today in his broken English.

Basically your travelling is really curtailed.
