Finally the penny has dropped: Fewer students are studying English at Taiwanese universities because they are worried that a degree in English will not land them a job upon graduation. Good that Taiwanese students are finally waking up and smelling the coffee. For too many years, Taiwanese universities have been brainwashing students into believing that English is the way to get on in the world. Nothing could be further from the truth in Taiwan, where good jobs are scarce, pay is lousy and prospects zero.

Use the money that would have been spent on a university education and spend it instead on a nice little coffee shop in the mountains . . . |
