This article from the weekend looks hopeful for the future.

But it is important that the executive get it right on the fees issue at home; I'm not sure they have. If it goes one way i.e. no fees in Scotland while England eventually charges what it likes, Scottish Universities will end up as the cheap and cheerful option of British education. If it goes the other with fees for non-Scots there will be challenges to it in the courts and the case law could end up Scottish Universities in a mess. We could have the situation where the poorest English people fill the the places in Scotland while the Scots head south en masse. |
