What are the requirements to teach English in universities in Indonesia?
Are there many opportunities for this kind of teaching? |

I don't know about English teaching but I looked into science posts a while back and it was virtually impossible for a westerner to take up a faculty teaching post at an Indonesian university. Universities can't afford to pay the expat levy plus KITAS etc on top of the salary. I know a scientist who did work at a university but he was employed by a UK grantholder who was basically paying the Indonesian university for him to work there.
There are a number of volunteer posts (try Volunteers in Asia if you are in the US) and there are a few Australian universities that run joint degrees with Indo institutions so these might be worth a try. Other than that, I doubt there are many opportunities. |
