Hi Folks,

I'd like to know if Malaysian employers accept an MEd (Applied Linguistics) from the Open University UK when considering applicants for esl positions?

I also have eight years esl experience and a TEFL cert (20 hours) and a first bachelors degree in Media from a British university.

I am particularly interested in the M.O.E. upskilling program, university teaching or EAL in an international school.

Any opinions from people with experience teaching or hiring in Malaysia would be greatly appreciated? Very Happy

Your qualifications are more than adequate for the academic requirements, but more important is your work experience. For the upskilling project you need to have a proven record in English teacher, teacher training and for the mentoring programme, you need to have had extensive experience of teaching young learners. So you can have the qualifications, but without the experience you may still not get a position.

Hi SMR ELT

Thanks for clarifying that. I have over 6 years experience teaching young learners, so I guess I should go for the mentoring program.
