MCBS is a small private college in Al-Khuwair which started out with a partnership with the University of Missouri in St Louis. Originally the first two years were done in Oman and then the students finished the degree in St Louis. Through the years, they have added third year and fourth year courses. They still work closely with UMSL, but have also added partnerships with other institutions. Most of their majors are business or computer related.

I taught there a couple of years ago and enjoyed it very much. Their students are an interesting mixture of Omanis and expatriate kids with a large range of English skills from low beginning to native speakers. Its small size allows a very informal environment and nice people to work with.

The main drawback, just as with all these small private colleges is that the pay is quite low by Gulf standards.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but MCBS is hiring again. About 10% of faculty are westerners. http://www.mcbs.edu.om/en/esl-department?start=24

MCBS has always been an Omani managed university with only a handful of Western teachers. So no need to slang off the Omanization as if it was caused some horrible downturn. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Because when anyone on this board uses a sentence like this:

Quote:
That's _____sation in action!

(fill in with Saudi, Omani, Emirati, etc)

It translates to there goes the place down the toilet. That is what is meant in spite of your attempt at "innocence" (Cool who me? that's not what I meant).

But in this case, it was already Omani. Thus there was no need for -ization.

you do talk rubbish at times but have surpassed yourself here. How long has it been since you worked in the region? How long has it been since you worked as a teacher?

I stand by exactly what I said. Your questions are irrelevant as they have nothing to do with what I said... or what you said. It is just setting up a straw man.

What I said was neutral and you know it. My questions were relevant as I think you're way out of touch.
