Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, no idea if you're still looking into it or not. Otherwise maybe someone else finds this helpful.
I applied for a part time job at Myes after they contacted me through Facebook, and since I had only just finished CELTA I was dead nervous for the interview, so it didn't go so well. But the person interviewing me told me to prepare a 20 minute lesson and he would check his schedule and let me know when I was supposed to teach it.
I went home, spent all this time preparing a lesson (I prepared several actually because he also didn't know which level it was going to be yet) and never heard from them again, and they didn't respond to any messages of mine. Incredibly rude if you ask me. If you don't want to hire me, fine, but don't tell me to come back with a lesson.
Anyway the interview was slightly odd. They didn't ask anything about my teaching skills, but only my Dutch-English background. I moved from the UK to Holland when I was about 6 and he seemed more interested in how many times I went back to the UK to family then in my teaching philosophy. As if he wasn't convinced I was English enough. So I had a bad experience but it might've been just that location.
They work with small classes, personalised courses and after school activities, that's what I know about them. It wasn't a school with classrooms either, but a big open space with groups of students in different corners. They had interactive television screens instead of whiteboards, so quite modern in that respect. And I've heard it's a company that does everything the 'right way', f.e. they pay taxes and do sick pay. Quite rare for Italy. |
