Hi

I've posted in the Middle Eastern forums in the past, but I was wondering if there are well-paid jobs in Europe any more i.e. jobs paying a similar salary to a FE or HE institution in the UK and also at similar level college or university (not a language school).

I know there are loads of language schools in Europe - I worked at one in Portugal for 5 years and the money was fairly crap - but do roles at FE/HE level institutions in mainland Europe exist ?

Might be a silly question but I have to ask !

Thanks

I have worked at 2 western and central European universities and we have numerous partners across the region. In my experience over the past fifteen years or so, there are (rare) job openings and they do pay relatively decent wages, but they are highly competitive, demand at minimum related MA, and usually you need local contacts, language skills, and rep to get one.

Private universities (for pay) are also around and are a bit easier to get into in general.

Okay so it might be possible. Maybe they are all word of mouth vacancies then, as I have as yet to see any advertised.

In my experience, the jobs are very often asvertised only for the sake of form; they've already planned who to hire. Not impossible to find something assuming you have quals, tho, and possibly worth dropping CVs regardless if they are advertising.
