Nowadays schools are requiring non-EU teachers to be self-employed. How can I become self employed? What is the process? How much are the costs?

Thanks

Not just non-EU but EU as well. PM Delph, he'll tell you exactly. You will need to pay a bookkeeper every month and stash your receipts. You will need to invoice people. After 2 years, I think, your ZUS payments increase dramatically and you pay them monthly whether you work or not. Welcome to the world of zero hours.

Actually, if you decide to go home for a month or two in the Summer or take a break or whatever, you can suspend your business activity for that time. You can not issue invoices but you don't have to pay ZUS.

Ever looked here: http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=66545? This sticky was less than half an inch away on the screen from the thread you started, chuckMC.

It was started in '05, so the particulars are out of date, but the general procedure is still the same.

A wannabe lawyer started it, so it's pretty detailed and has many a numbered and bullited list.
