Depends. When I switched positions I cancelled my prior employer in July, immediately went back on tourist visa (subsequently beginning work in August) and because of various delays didn't get my employment visa until October and I was still utilizing my debit card and bank account easily.
Just depends. Others I have known had their accounts froze until the new employment visa was issued, if switching employers. If renewing, nothing usually changes. |

Can you tell me what usually happens with bank accounts when you arrive i.e. you have to open an account there rather than use one from your home country ? Does your employer usually have a affiliation with a bank ? |

The employer might have a recommended bank, but you can choose whichever bank you wish. Once you have a bank account, you can have your salary deposited directly into the account. Many folks seem to like ADCB. Transferring cash back to your own country is easy, and they have a good online bill payment system. I'm sure that there are many good banks based in Dubai, too. |
