Getting Permanent Residency here in the Land of Smiles without being married to a Thai or investing in millions of baht in the local economy is like winning the Thai lottery....at best! Shocked

Taken from Siam Legal's website:

- Must hold 3 consecutive 1-year visa extensions.
- Must have a valid work permit for 3 years at the date of application.
- Must earn 30,000 Baht monthly income (for those married with Thai spouse for 5 years) and 80,000 Baht monthly income (for those who are single).
- Applicant must present 3 years of tax statements proving the above income

On a teacher's salary being a single man it seems damn near impossible unless you're working at an international school. You'll have to do an interview and take a test in Thai language. If your application is accepted you'll then have to pay around 190,000THB receive your residence book.

You will have better luck winning the Thai lottery here than receiving Permanent Residency...especially if you are an EFL teacher on Bath wages...Mission Impossible at best!!!!! Shocked
