I'm teaching in a university in Saudi Arabia. This coming summer we will be given 3 months vacation (paid). Is it possible to find a summer job somewhere in Europe for a non-EU citizen? I'm Canadian. I understand this would be an under the table, illegitimate job. I'm more interested in western Europe-Spain maybe. Can I just show up and get a job in Europe these days? I've got great credentials and over 20 years of experience. Thanks.

I suspect summer is major holiday time --- a lot of folks won't likely be around or interested in taking lessons. Plus, your out-of-pocket costs for your visa, airfare, lodging, etc., will make it cost prohibitive.

There are some summer camps around that pay subsistence wages and offer housing included. They won't pay for travel expenses, of course, and definitely won't provide you with a work visa, but if you're here less than 90 days it's unlikely to be a serious problem. (BTW, you can't buy a visa for Schengen zone countries).

You might take a look at the following:

Thanks for the advice. My present employer in KSA will pay my airfare and I'll still receive my monthly pay during the summer break. I was thinking of a mixture of part-time work and holiday. The summer camps seem like 24/7 deals so that won't work. Even 10 hours a week is fine to off-set costs a bit. Spending the summer in Spain sounds nice, but it can get expensive without a little work.

Come for six weeks, and do a two-week stint at a 24/7 summer camp?
