Happy Monday! I have been reading past posts this weekend about working in Poland. I am interested in coming to work in Wroclaw or Warsaw, has anyone worked in both and can give a comparison on what is it like to live in each of them plus any advantages/disadvantages. I imagine Warsaw is more expensive but am interested more in terms of quality of life and things to do. I am not into clubbing so a party-scene isn't needed. Thank you in advance for any info. |

Wroclaw has a lovely rynek and it's a student town. Not sure what the job market is like but it's a lovely place. Near Germany and a stone's throw from Karpacz and the Czech lands. I live in Poznan, a couple of hours to the north. I lived in Warsaw way back. Loads to do and you'll find enough work but a bit soulless. Capital cities and EFL budgets good friends do not make. |

Thank you for that. Would taking home 6000 pln a month after tax in Warsaw be enough or would taking home 5000 pln in Wroclaw be better? |

Netting 5000PLN in Wroclaw? You better find some high paying private students.
There are lots of qualified (and experienced!!) Polish teachers now. There is a lot less need for Natives, compared with 10 years ago. |

Indeed. And meanwhile, you're not going to be all over the boards, telling people that you've 'seen this job advert' or 'been invited by this school for an interview' in 8 or 10 different countries?
Nor will you send time-wasting pms to well-intended posters asking detailed questions about a country and job you will never actually work in, then moving on to do the same to others?
This is already quite suspect as April is NOT job-hunting time in Poland or anywhere in the region. |

I have a holiday at the end of April and am going over to Poland to visit the country with a friend. I plan on visiting the two cities to get a feel for the place. |

"I have been interviewed for a job with the Interstellar Academy on Planet Tralfamador. Can anyone give me some tips ? I have a Graduate Certificate in Musicology, take size 10 shoes and experience frequent delusional and psychotic episodes, which manifest themselves in an uncontrollable urge to post nonsense on fora like this one."
Does that sound like a familiar pattern ? |

Totally right on the money, except for that last part about, well, money.
You can find so much more well-paying teaching work in Warsaw than in other Polish cities. It's really worth taking this into consideration before making a final decision. For example, I would have moved to Wroclaw long ago if it wasn't for the lack of well-paying work there.
Warsaw, on the other hand, kept me in Ciechan beer and peirogi for 4 years. |
