It's claimed that they, the recruiters, are getting paid almost 2000 per month for each hire by MOM. Plus an initial 1st year 'hiring fee' for each individual-hence the likes of TATI have no real interest in retaining staff over a period of time.....salaries never increase at all, with regards to time served with the company. |

On the previous page, someone posted that they are hiring for University of Nizwa (a private university) and above there was mention that they are hiring for MOM.
Can anyone confirm who they are hiring for? If I were interested in teaching of UoN, I would apply directly rather than using a recruiter... or are they no longer hiring direct?

Everyone that I have known who taught there applied direct and was hired direct. Those that worked at the MOM college were hired by TATI.

When doing my research in 2016 on Tati, Hawthorn, the Technology Colleges and the Colleges of Applied Sciences, I emailed several serving teachers.
One informed me that he had handed in his resignation after a few years but the Dean wanted him to stay so the Dean persuaded Tati to raise his salary by an extra 100 omr.
Not a huge amount, but it can happen - evidently, you need to impress just more than your HOD...it has to get all the way to the dean.[/color] |

Salary increases should be built into the whole process of retention over time....not at the 'whim' of the dean of the college. I have heard that at some of the MOM colleges there is a 'spiteful' competitive drive among the western expat teachers-where they compete to excel and in some cases discredit each other with a view to winning favour with the dean and associated Omani bigwigs within the college....pathetic, really. |
