Hi.

I'm considering taking a 4-week 120 hour TEFL course with the International TEFL Academy this year, and potentially moving to Paris in January to try and find work.

The only problem is, I seem to get quite a lot of conflicting information regarding finding TEFL work in Paris.

1) I understand that September is the busiest hiring month, but what is January like? Would I be sure to find a job or would it be likely that I could end up having to go back home?

2) From what I've read online, it seems that a lot of jobs in Paris requires teaching experience (which I don't have) or that you won't get many hours... it doesn't sound very promising. Is this true?

Thanks for any info Smile

There are jobs to be had in January as people are returning from the Christmas holiday. Also, universities may have had someone quit mid semester, so that is a possibility.

Regarding universities, focus on getting a post with a private institution. Public universities normally hire vacataires, and you must have a teaching job with a minimum of 300 hours per year elsewhere; in addition, you are paid at the *end* of the semester, which is rather unreasonable as no one should have to wait more than a month for his pay.
