I've got an interview for a company in Paris and they say the successful applicants will have a secondment contract with fixed salary. What's a secondment contract? Will the salary be high enough do you think to live in Paris?

Ah, adding France to the list of countries you've supposedly had interviews with or job offers from in the past few weeks?

China
Germany
Hong Kong
Italy
KSA
and
Libya?

I just had my interview with a Parisian language company and they offer a fixed contract of 1650Euro per month for 25 contact hours. If I get the job, I'm planning on making another 250Euro a month privately. Will have to wait for their reply.

So, Mingvase, have you changed your mind? No more the Magic Kingdom? Laughing

Mingvase,
Is that 1650 euros gross or net? If it's gross, then you need to deduct ca. 20% to see your real monthly salary, so that means you would take home about 1220 per month.

Also, you have to pay taxes on top of that, so calculate (based on my situation with similar earnings and married status), 510 euros that I paid for 2015.

So, you'll be raking in a little under 1,500 euros per month total with your private lessons.

It's feasible, but it means you will need a very cheap apartment in Pairs or an apartment far from the city.

Also, are you looking at long term? Will you be able to retire?

FYI: Mingvase was trolling and is no longer on the Café forums (under this alias).
