Has anybody done their CELTA in Ukraine recently? What can you say about this experience?
There are some related topics on the forum, but they are mostly old.
What is the current situation with International House Kiev? There were rumours about them losing their affiliations with their HQ, or something like that on this forum - http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=111307
Is it a good idea to do CELTA in IH Kiev? |

Why not contact the British Council in Ukraine with your concerns about IH? They'd likely know what's going on. |

Thanks for the idea - i haven't thought about it.
I'll give it a try. |

In fact, the BC very likely offers regular CELTA courses. Find out if their rates match your budget. |

Yes, it does.
Actually, there are at least three CELTA locations in Kiev - BC, Grade, and International House.
Another one is "International Language Center". But it is not mentioned on the official Cambridge web-site, which makes me quite suspicious.
It needs further research.
Prices are similar, or almost similar - 1300-1400 USD.
I have already asked this question in another topic, but
would CELTA certificate (received in Ukraine) be an advantage for a non-native speaker in getting a job abroad? |

Yes, of course, but consider the job markets ('abroad' isn't a standardized place).
Where you are competing against large numbers of native speakers with CELTAs also, the cert obviously won't equate to much leverage.
Where the native speakers on the job market have less than a CELTA, it should help. |

Ditto spiral's comment, although no one can say what your chances are as a non-native speaker. But again, completing the CELTA in your target country would certainly help boost your chances.
Anyway... Since the BC Ukraine's CELTA fits your budget, just do the course with them rather than spin your wheels worrying about the status of the other two course providers. |
