New requirements for TEFL teachers in Oh Man are almost happening on a monthly basis now....this is what happens when the "powers that be" have nothing much to do with their time but make YOUR and MY Life more miserable...just so you have the privilege of having a job in Oh Man teaching English. Me "crystal ball" thinks the next requirement will be that all teachers need a PHD or Doctorate in Applied Linguistics to teach English...with further drops in salary as non-native English teachers from the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, the Philippines and Africa take over the EFL market in OH MANNNN! |

As far as I know what the original poster is referring to is a new rule where all non-native English speaking instructors applying for jobs in Oman with the MOHE have to do an IELTS exam and need to score an IELTS 7 or above in order to be hired.

Thanks lizziebennet
I only heard there were new requirements as a friend of mine said that it was difficult for their college to recruit but she didn't know the details.
An IELTS 7 is a standard that should have been imposed many moons ago. Do you know if there are any other criteria?

Sleepwalker I just heard about that change. The only other thing that I heard about it is that they will only accept an exam score from an IELTS test taken in the last 2 years. But again that was what I heard through the rumour mill much like you. |
