Hi, I'm a new EFL teacher and have been offered a job in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, but I am concerned about the safety of teaching near the Malaysian boarder because of the conflict there.
Nakhon Sri Thammarat is a few provinces North, but I'm not sure about how far the conflict reaches. Can anyone in Thailand shed some light on the situation there?
Many thanks! Very Happy

No worry. There is more to fear from the western tourists than the southern insurgents.

Like in any country in the world, bad things can happen in Thailand.

This is a very current example:

Nakhon Si Thammarat is far from the Malaysian border. Even the more southern Hat Yai and Songkhla are safe enough. and no western tourist which is a big plus (for me) haha

I would generally agree that you don't need to worry about the conflict in the deep south if you're in Nakorn Si Thammarat.

I would advise you though to spend some time reading and researching about the current situation in Thailand as a whole, and where it is heading.

For example:

Why no one wants to rule Thailand other than the military

I would be more worried about dodgey agencies down there. Seems to be more cheating than bkk.
