Hello everyone, I've been working on getting a job in a Spanish speaking country for a bit now and I've noticed that flights to Cancun are ridiculously cheap, so that's my next move! I'll be flying there for one to two weeks to look for work, and I'm wondering what documents I should bring with me? A university gig would be wonderful but I'm looking for something that will only last around six months so I can head back to the states to start my alternative licensing program.
Also any suggestions about where to start my job search would be appreciated, I have a Masters in TESOL from a traditional university, 2 years university experience from China/Colombia, and about 2 years experience with K-12.
I figure worst case scenario I end up with two weeks of Spanish immersion and get to see a bit of another country. Hope to hear some input, thanks! |

Hi Cancun can be a hard nut to crack especially when you don't plan to stay more than 6 months. It will take at least 6 weeks to get a work permit. |

I know two people who live/lived in or near Cancun. One was not able to find a job and ended up leaving and moving to Mexico City. The other works online, for the same reason, not enough work. As Mother F noted, you will likely find it hard to find legal work anywhere for just 6 months. Cancun is also fairly expensive when compared to the rest of Mexico. You might want to consider working online for a place that pays in dollars or euros and then see if you can pick up some private classes locally. |
