I recently saw an ad for teaching middle school in Ukraine through an organization called DEC, but I can find out almost no info about it in English. The ad was well-worded but said little about pay or conditions, so I am suspicious. Has anyone dealt with them? Typically they are trying to rush me into a skype interview without replying to my queries!

They are a bit of an odd organization- they have a school focused on children and teenagers with (I believe) several branches in Kyiv (and maybe throughout Ukraine), summer camps for children, and (I believe) some real estate holdings.

As for working conditions, I can't say. I interviewed with them when I first moved to Ukraine in 2013. The women who interviewed me were nice enough, but the pay was quite low- something like 100 - 150 gryvnias a lesson, which is closer to a Ukrainian teacher's salary than a native speaker. Also, they refused to file the paperwork so that I can work legally, although they were quite honest and upfront about it.

However, I haven't heard much about them since. If you don't mind teaching kids/teenagers, then just find out about the salary and conditions- it might be worth it.

That's exactly what I was afraid of, so thank you very much for the warning. 150 gryvnias is less than $6. I'm not interested in work that pays by the hour, or that doesn't provide housing or allowance. Good that this is now posted, since I can't imagine anyone wanting to work there unless they are already in Kiev.
