Hello,

I have had friends that have worked there. Generally, the Koreans are very hierarchical and keep the foreigners on the outside. Kids are nice, parents are a bit nightmarish and two-faced. Expect to be talked about on Whatsapp chat groups.

You won't be getting the best studebts there. The better Korean students go to Singapore government schools where they are taught in English, integrate into society and receive a better standard of education.

Hello,

May I ask some questions:

Are the teachers there generally happy with their lot, or is there a high turn-over of staff?

Do you have any information on the curriculum and teaching methodologies, support to new teachers (both in and outside work), and any other salient points?

Is 4,800 Singapore Dollars enough to live on, and to save at least 1000 US dollars a month?

Are the set-up/ re-location costs horrendous, or doable?

Can one survive without a car?

Can one rent in a decent area near the school, and have a reasonable commute?

I would be extremely grateful for any info Smile

Hello,

I can't answer about the teachers and methodology.

Be warned that Singapore is one of the most expensive countries in the world and that salary, though liveable, will need careful management to save much from.

That part of town is quite expensive. You'll probably need to commute to get to work, but not too far.

You can survive without a car. Most do.

Rental of entire HDB flat = 2k plus
Rental of a condominium =3k plus
Rental of a room in an HDB/condo =1k plus

Start up costs are usually one month's rent, one month's deposit and an agent fee (variable).

Enjoy!

Wow! The rental costs are enough to put me off. I honestly think Singapore is not a place to contemplate, if you need space, privacy, and non-shared accommodation. I currently save more than half my salary here in the Gulf. I will wait to go to Singapore, when I do not have that pressure of saving. Something to look forward to in the future!

So appreciate your input, thanks Very Happy

I've actually heard some unpleasant stories about the way teachers are treated by management and parents at this school. It just doesn't seem worth the money.

So far every school I've interviewed for has had something negative written about them.

Maybe just angry people post on the internet. or not...
