Hello everybody!
Could someone , please, tell me what are my chances of landing an ESL job in Japan? (probably in some primary school or in a kindergarten)
I have a law degree and a CELTA, and 6 years of ESL teaching experience in total (4 of which in China). I have already taught in a kindergarten for a year and a half.
Could you please estimate my chances? |

Depends on your background.
Have you lived in an English speaking country?
If so, I think you can get this kind of work. |

Don't forget to check the visa requirements. You need to be able to prove 12 years of your education was conducted in English for a specialist in humanities visa, if I recall.
Your credentials sound more than adequate. You should know that primary, especially public schools, almost never hire directly, but go through a dispatch agency for their foreign English teachers. Interac is the largest. There is a whole industry of English conversation "schools". Most all will do kids' lessons of some sort. Google "eikaiwa" and take a look.
Are you in Japan now? |
