Original University degree

Criminal Check (only Federal or will state level work?)

Certificate (only ESL related or will an actual teaching license from the states work ie math for example?)

Coming over in about 4 months. Trying to get my ducks in a row.

If you have an actual teaching license, I'd suggest looking into getting work at an international school and not bother with the ESL market.

Do you know if a dismissed charge would cause problems? (A 9 year old misdemeanor DUI)

I can't say No. Generally with criminal background checks, they really don't want to see anything except No Record.

However, if it's such an old charge (and given the prevalence of DUI in Vietnam), I don't think you have too much to worry about so long as you're forthcoming about it.

I previously lived in VN for a while, I'm coming back after spending 5 months in Japan and will have to apply for a new WP. Will a police check from the UK (my home nation) work?

Unless things have changed, the answer is yes. They tend to look at where you are from not where you have been
