In Thailand, there are many positions at "tweener" establishments - which fall halfway between government and international schools - where non-English language subjects (i.e. Sciences, Humanities, etc.) are taught by teachers with a degree in that subject, but no formal teacher status in their home country (i.e. as would usually be required for an international school). China advertised many similar vacancies as well.

Do such positions exist in Vietnam? Or is it a case of TEFL or international schools only?

I have seen a few "Science" adverts via Google, but are usually pretty vague and long-expired.

Yes, there are numerous "international" schools throughout Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. These are private for profit schools that usually suffer from mismanagement. They sometimes have some low-level accreditation (IGCSE) but are not IB schools. They get who they can, often Asians, to teach Science, Math, IT, etc., but want to have westerners on staff as well. With a related degree you should be able to get a job at one of the better ones.

You'll have better luck finding them if you search for their websites instead of looking for job ads. Every school in the region has a website even if it's just a FB page. If they have openings, they usually have info about jobs there.
