Hello, does any one have experience teaching in Chiang Mai? Do you know of any schools to teach for? What is a typical salary? I have a BA and recently finished a 120 hour TEFL/TESOL Certificate.
Thanks |

Join the ranks of underemployed teachers in CM.
There are at least 3 TEFL schools cranking out up to 100 new TEFL teachers every month to compete with. For that reason the competition is high and salaries are low.
Move 100km in any direction and the number of jobs goes up and competition goes down.
Typical TEFL jobs in CM run 25-30k baht/month and you pay for your visa, WP, and all other expenses.

Agreed. I have been here for four years on a retirement extension. The TEFLers come and go like a bad fart. Most are not legal, and don't stick around long enough to get legal. It is easy enough for a school to get rid of them after a few months and string someone else along on paperwork. How does a thirty hour round trip bus ride to Laos sound? |

It's not 30 hours. It's overnight. The problem is after about a year they start red marking your passport. Then it's biweekly trips to Burma assuming they are still giving transit visas there. |

15 hours each way. You can now get two visa exempt entries per calendar year at the Myanmar land borders. The marking started ten years ago, when it was three, but it was also zero for a year or so, before starting the two stamp rule last year. |

Can you still get multiple entry visas, say two per year? Also what have they done about plane trips in and out for transit visas? |

Multiple Entry Tourist Visas are only available in your home country. Double and triple entry Tourist Visas are extinct. Return ticket and hotel bookings are often required for single entry. The immigration officer can deny you, if he thinks you are working or living here on Tourist Visas. Working on TV is illegal, period, and so is volunteering. |
