I see. You should still get a 60 day TR visa....that will give you breathing room, but you will still need to show reservations, ticket out, and 20,000 THB equiv.. A 30 day visa exempt entry can be extended for thirty days, but it is 1900 THB. Chiang Mai Immigration is as bad as it gets. I enjoy living here, but if I had to teach to live and get a visa; this is the last place to be. Pay is terrible here. It is simple supply and demand. There are just too many like you, that want to teach in CM. And if you won't take 25k, they can find a Flip for 15k, or a NNES, with a white face for 20k. Taking low pay (half of minimum wage in US) for a few years to live here isn't totally unreasonable....but, once you add the paper chase into it...well, the turnover of foreign teachers can be over 100% (some jobs are filled more than once). I would go to Udon or KKN....
