TEFL is a very poorly paid job in most places. As a rough rule of thumb, if the ballpark salary and benefits aren't mentioned, the job's rubbish, so you needn't apply.

It's very off-putting and insulting.

Basically, my degree has qualified me (IF I stay in the USA to teach adults) for a PART-TIME job with NO Benefits, no health insurance, no holiday pay, no sick days (which is a form we were required to sign at a community college position where I worked) and yes, PART-TIME with "no possibility of full-time employment.

That's sadly typical of Anglophone countries. Too much competition means that employers can treat 'you' this way. Wink

Part-time TESL work is the norm in the US and is a separate issue than what's discussed in this thread. But in terms of pay, you were aware of the hourly rate or range for the position prior to applying; ads for part-time or on-call teaching work are generally clear about pay.
