Hello, I am a 25 year old female currently teaching in Spain. I'm looking into programs like Greenheart or API to teach in Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, or even Mexico in 2018. I've read a lot of posts on here regarding safety but not many that are geared towards women's safety in particular. I am at a B2 level of Spanish and hope to be even better when I'm done here. Is South America in general safe for women travelling alone? Are some countries better than others for me? I have heard a lot of stories and I know all about the machismo of LA. Would love some honest opinions please and, if possible, experiences from women! Thanks!

Just go and make friends. Be social. You won't be alone often if LA unless you want to be. Any decent-sized city will have plenty of people who want to have a foreigner in their social circle. I go everywhere with the friends I've made here in Colombia.
