How come you get paid so much money for TEFL? 30k SAR is an enormous amount of money. Who pays this amount? I have never seen an advert this high before although I don't look at ads in Saudi really. |

Except for Aramco, pretty much all the great oil and gas jobs have gone or are in the last throws of dying.
I'm in the UAE on an Aramco salary but I don't expect to be here much longer.
Outsourcing and the race to the bottom beckons. |

Even Aramco is not immune. Old friend of mine - one of those that lived in Bahrain and commuted daily to KSA... was just let go.....after 20 years or so on the job as Aramco contractor. And it's not just English teachers that this is happening to. Cutbacks across the board, regardless of age, profession, expertise, you name it.....the money is just not there anymore.
(Meanwhile, back in the USA, GE has just announced "thousands" to be laid off worldwide....and Ford is taking its electric car manufacturing to.......Mexico (I didn't think they did that anymore)......Hold on to your undies.....it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Not sure why you would think that. The new tax bill rewards those who move out of the US. Not to mention that Ford's US factory is switching to self-driving cars... and the electric car production is moving to an existing factory in Mexico that is cutting back the production of small cars that aren't selling because the gas is cheap again.

As others have said, if you are male, there are jobs right now at over 20K SAR including accommodation, and in most cases, transportation. If you are American, see Raytheon, Blueforce, and maybe some others. If you are British, see BAE. There are others, but I will leave that for you to discover. Best of luck. |

My pal at BAe says it's absolutely dreadful. I know 3 people who have quit that motherload of a working day. |

He means......he's a CONTRACTEE of a CONTRACTOR CONTRACTED to work at ARAMCO. In other words, he's not an ARAMCO employee (direct hire) even though he works at ARAMCO facilities and teaches (or otherwise) ARAMCO students/employees.
(I just asked my students to translate what I just wrote above into Arabic....not a one could do it.......not even close.)

I am surprised he gets 30k a month SAR then because contractors tend to want to keep all the profits themselves and pay contractees peanuts. If he is making 30k SAR a month as a contractor, his company must be making 50-60k a m onth then which is A LOT of SARs...no medical pun intended.
ICEAT do not offer contractors 30k SAR a month for example yet they teach the RSAF Royal Saudi Air Force cadets. But then the RSAF isn't ARAMCO I guess. |

Oh I forgot, some European Centre somewhere I think maybe in Jubail is a contractor for ARAMCO and the guy who runs it is an MA Cantab (a singer basically like Aled Jones..."We're walking in the air....."
But he doesn't offer 30k SAR to contractors. I think 10k it was |

everyone gets 30K plus... it's standard, plus up to 10% pay rise each year.. at least until you hit the top of your pay grade.
But this is the total package apart from one interim flight (used to be two), so you're paying for your accommodation out of this. |
