Going out to dinner is one thing. But I was referring to expats who think they can have a western-style relationship with an unrelated member of the opposite sex. I know of two British female teachers who were immediately deported for that very reason. And as scot47 pointed out, getting a visa for one's girlfriend ain't gonna happen.

The OP and his wife can research KSA's culture and its gender segregation law on their own to determine if they can hack living there.

Yes, Saudi's recent history with respect to social freedoms is highly negative. But then again women drivers and cinemas will be allowed soon, we're having concerts, mixed crowds at sports matches, Skype and WhatsApp calls are now allowed, and JOHN TRAVOLTA VISITED. I am married and I will not date anyone in KSA. I understand the rules about this. I would not be going to KSA if I were single.

I have a question about the internet. Does anyone know if Tor is banned? I plan on being quite careful about what I post on facebook. Does anyone have any further elaboration about internet restrictions?

You really should be posting your Saudi questions on the KSA forum; those topics have already been addressed:
