Pure fiction, but a beautiful story about the line drawn in Lebanon:
"The Rock of Tanios" by Amin Maalouf
Tariq Ali's "Islam Quintet" Series is also fiction, but creates snapshots of the Islamic world at pivotal points of decline and lose. |

Another book by Robert Lacey that I just finished is called Inside the Kingdom. This has the more recent history of the country. It is well written and compelling. |
