Hello All,
I will be going to Grad School for an MA Tesol and Applied Linguistics and I have a teaching assistant position here in the USA. I have taught English through a volunteer program here for 3 years and have substitute taught on and off for seven years. My wife is a licensed art teacher with one year experience here at the elementary school level and might be getting a job at the highschool level soon. We are interested in possibly moving to Hong Kong to teach English and K-12 Art. What are some realistic expectations in terms of workload, salary, and expenses? Also, what are some things we can do now to be more successful if we attempt to teach in Hong Kong?

I think you would have a chance at securing a local school position but you lack local experience so perhaps you couldn't get the best positions right off the bat. I'm not sure about the possibilities for your wife, perhaps someone else can chip in on that. There's a fairly decent article about teaching in local schools in HK here:
