Hello,

My partner and I, both Irish citizens, are looking at moving somewhere else to teach next January/February. Currently we are in China. We have been teaching the IB curriculum at an authorized PYP school for 3 years. Both of us have been grade leaders for 2 of those 3 years. We are not certified teachers in our own country. We hold TEFL qualifications as well as Bachelor degrees unrelated to teaching.

We are very experienced at teaching the PYP at kindergarten level so we would like to continue teaching the IB curriculum to children of that age-group.

Would India offer many opportunities for us in this regard?

What kind of salary could we expect to receive in India? If we were to move to India we would probably look to get a job in the Southern states.

I have been trying for the same thing for the next school year but it has been hard. I have had 2 skype interviews with two different IB schools. Both times the interviewer said they wanted to have a second interview and also asked me to send my salary expectation but that was two weeks ago and they never actually got back in touch. Not sure what the deal is. But if they ended up finding someone better, couldn't they at least say that they are not actually going to have the second interview?

Indian Government policy is to restrict employment in this field. Generally speaking there are very protectionist policies when it comes to issuance of work permits The prevailing opinion is that there are enough qualified Indian citizens to do this, and similar work. You MAY succeed if you are very persistent.

In your position I would devote my energies to other countries in the region.
