Hey friends,
I'm considering a possible offer of job in Santiago. I had asthma as a child but most of my life it has hardly been an issue. Now as I'm getting older I am more aware of my mild asthma and I am very aware of the air pollution in a place like Delhi.
A google search seems to show Santiago as having quite a significant problem with air pollution. (Report from last year.)
I've been checking out the question of whether face masks help. Seems they may cut down particle intake quite a bit.
Has anyone lived or is there anyone here at Dave's living in Santiago? Do people in the streets wear masks? Is it an issue for teachers here? Do people use air purifiers at home?
Would appreciate any comments from people who are in the know. I would ask my prospective employer ( as I did in Vietnam ...finally advised me not to come to HCMC or Hanoi,) but now i hesitate to jeopardise the possibility of a final offer.
Thanks. |

Hi,
I was there in 2012, it gets a bit polluted like any other big city but I didnt even notice. You should be fine unless you're particularly sensitive. Nothing like many Chinese cities where its actually visible and you have to wear a mask! |
