Was talking to a former student and the subject of the Student English Club came up. She didn't attend, even though she was a keen student in class.
Her issue was that a clique ran the show to get cred from the admin and not to enhance the enjoyment and usefulness of English.
Any thoughts including how regularly FTs asked to attend/judge activities etc?
'English Club' being student run outside normal hours. Not to be confused with 'English Electives' which are in my experience, part of the timetable. That said, the big issue for me is that one never knew how many would turn up.
Prepare a great mingle/cocktail party activity and you get 5 attendees. Surprised

More than 2 decades ago, the school I was teaching at in Poland, IH the lowest payers in the market, had an after hours English Club in a local bar every Monday night. Teacher attendance was guaranteed as the owner had a slate for the teachers of 5 beers each. It was hugely popular amongst the Poles of Bydgoszcz as they got free conversation classes with native speakers and could have a good knees up at the same time. Tuesdays in class were terrible!
